In this episode of TACT Talks, Assessing Social Worker Katie sits down with Supervising Social Worker Anju to explore what therapeutic fostering really means. It’s a term used widely across fostering, but what does it actually look like in practice?
Katie and Anju break down the meaning of therapeutic fostering and explore how it shapes the way foster carers understand, respond to and support children and young people who may have experienced trauma, loss and difficult experiences. They discuss how a therapeutic approach can make a real difference to foster carers too, giving them the understanding, tools and support they need to build strong relationships and respond to the individual needs of the children in their care.
Most importantly, they explore how therapeutic fostering can help children and young people feel understood, safe and supported, and how the right approach can make a lasting difference to their lives.
