North Wales
We are urgently recruiting more foster carers across North Wales who can provide care and support to some of the UK’s most vulnerable children and young people.
With over 30 years experience in foster care, we are the UK’s largest dedicated fostering charity. We work closely with our North Wales partner organisation Foster Care Values (FCV) who will process your fostering enquiry, and will support you throughout your fostering journey.
FCV is an independent fostering agency who cover North Wales. With a physical office in Conwy, TACT joined forces with them in 2024 due to the Welsh Government’s pledge to remove profit-making from foster care by 2027. This partnership has provided stability and continuity for their foster carers and young people, and has enabled the agency to continue their excellent work as a charitable organisation. FCV is an agency that share many of TACT’s values, and an ethos that puts children and young people at the heart of all they do.
FCV not only bring a wealth of experience, knowledge and foster carer support, they are also well established within local communities around North Wales. We are proud to be working with them to support our North Wales fostering teams.
All our foster carers receive a generous fostering allowance, 24/7 support and access to a comprehensive training programme. You could join our Fostering North Wales team, and make a real difference in your local area.
We are recruiting foster carers in Flintshire, Denbighshire, Wrexham, Conwy, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey – and surrounding areas.
Can I foster in North Wales?
The first step is to check that you fulfil the basic general fostering requirements:
- Are you at least 21 years old?
- Do you have at least one spare bedroom in your home?
- Are you a full-time resident of the UK, or do you have indefinite leave to remain?
If you have answered ‘yes’ to all three questions, you have fulfilled the initial criteria. We would now like to talk to you further about why you would like to become a foster carer, and ask you some more questions.

- Support for new carers.
All new TACT Cymru foster carers will be allocated a foster carer buddy, to provide informal support and guidance. - Local Support and Wellbeing groups for existing carers.
Monthly face-to-face support groups, where carers connect and engage in activities designed for their wellbeing, including Wellbeing Walks and lunches. These gatherings offer a supportive community and opportunities to recharge and share experiences. - Support for young people.
Our TACT Connect community ensures that when children leave our care, they have TACT’s support into adulthood and beyond. - Supporting your own children.
We understand that your own children play an important role in the fostering household. As such, our ‘Children Who Foster’ events provide your own children with an opportunity to socialise with other young people who make an amazing contribution to fostering. These activities often include trampolining, bowling, and cinema trips, as well as online support groups tailored for birth children. - Therapeutic support.
Monthly Therapeutic support group with a psychotherapist, and support for carers through 1:1 consultations.
