School Leavers Drive to The Finish Line!
Our TACT Yorkshire and North East teams took a group of school leavers on a driving experience that was not only exhilarating – it provided an opportunity for young people to socialise and make new friends.
To celebrate the hard work and dedication our young people have shown in their exams and finishing school, we organised our first school leavers event in July which took place at Elvington Airfield in York. A Youth Driving Experience was the activity – and it did not disappoint!
Each young person got to choose a super sports car to drive with an instructor. They got to drive three miles round a track in their chosen car – out of a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche or Audi.
After their drive they hopped into a F1 Atom where a driver took them on a high-speed drive. They all did amazing, listening and following instructions to keep safe whilst enjoying the experience.
They all absolutely loved the day; below are some quotes directly from our young people:
“It was different, exciting and fun. It’s a fun and unexpected activity in which I enjoyed driving the car which was the best bit”
“You get to meet with other people your own age which can benefit you and it’s good to feel like you’re not alone”
“I really enjoyed everything, the instructor advised me to slow down but I wanted to go faster”
“I like the teen only events because I get to meet others and do activities I’ve not done before. I usually struggle and don’t like talking to new people”
Activity days such as this are so important for our young people, not only as a celebration and reflection of hard work and achievement, but also as an opportunity to come together and share experiences and make new friends. A big thank you to our Yorkshire and North East teams for organising such a valuable day of wellbeing!
