TACT’s Aspirational Fund Fuels Young People’s Interests

Two of our young people in the West Midlands have taken up some new hobbies and interests, via TACT’s Aspirational Fund.

Our Aspirational Fund was established to allow our young people to access resources and facilities that they otherwise may have missed out on, and these opportunities can be instrumental to helping their confidence, wellbeing, and even future careers.

One of our young people had a keen interest in photography and wildlife, so their foster carer reached out to their Social Worker and asked whether the aspirational fund could help explore her passion. The funding provided her with a camera which has given her a creative outlet and a new way to connect with nature, capturing moments and wildlife that bring her such joy.

She is also now part of a local Bird Club which has provided her with a welcoming and supportive environment where she feels included and inspired by others who share similar interests. She has shared that the experience has been uplifting, helping her feel more connected, motivated, and appreciative of the natural world around her.

Another young person expressed an interest in hair dressing and the fund was able to pay for her to be enrolled on a hair dressing course. It not only helped with understanding and being more confident in caring for her own hair but has also opened up as a potential career path that she is considering for the future.

Below are some pictures of the young person practising on a mannequin.

It is truly wonderful to witness our young people discovering new hobbies, interests – and even potential career paths. That’s what our fund is there to do; to encourage experiences that have, until now, remained unexplored. After all, you never know what they might lead to!

Thank you to our wonderful foster carers and staff for making these experiences happen for these two young people.
