Agency

As a current foster carer, you might be considering transferring fostering agency from your current local authority or agency.

We understand that there are a number of reasons why foster carers may wish to transfer fostering agency. As the UK’s largest dedicated fostering charity, we will be happy to support you through that change.

We spoke to one of our current foster carers, about why he decided to transfer and why he chose TACT.

key reasons to foster with TACT:

  • Competitive fostering allowance.
As well as your fostering fee, we pay additional payments to help you support the children in your care.
  • Comprehensive 24/7 support.
Our Supervising Social Workers have manageable workloads, meaning that they can dedicate more time to supporting you. We also offer a range of other support services for both you and the children in your household.
  • Foster carer perks.
We offer a number of memberships, offers and perks to our carers – many of which are available via our Foster Carer Portal.
  • Developing innovative services.
We’re always looking for ways to improve what we offer to our foster families, such as developing our Education and Health Services to help the children we provide care for.
  • Comprehensive training programme.
As a current foster carer, you will already have had a certain degree of training. Our full training programme will help you to extend your skills further, even enabling you to take on fostering tasks you may not have done before.
  • Advocating for young people.
We actively campaign on behalf of children and young people, in order to help instigate positive change within the care system.
  • Support for life.
Our vision goes beyond the remit of providing foster care. Our TACT Connect service provides our care leavers with help, support and resources for life. Whether that be someone to talk to, opportunities to apply for a grant or advice on education and housing – we’re there for them.
  • Our charitable status.
Peace of mind that all income is invested directly to support our children and young people. There are no investors, no profits, and no shareholder dividends.

We will support you with the transfer process. We will first learn more about your circumstances and then guide you through the process.

You can transfer to TACT from another fostering agency or a local authority if you are currently fostering a child with them. We will support you through the process.

If you are looking to transfer to TACT, it is likely that you have lots of different questions. We’ve listed together our most popularly asked questions.

“After doing some research into other fostering agencies and charities, I came across TACT. The views of the CEO which were very child-centred reflected my own, while the fact that TACT is a charity was very important to me. I would not have transferred to a profit-based organisation, so I liked the fact that any money which TACT made was reinvested into their young people and foster families. The organisation is totally focused around the well-being of the young people and foster carers, unlike many other fostering providers where decisions can revolve around the profits received by shareholders.”
