A Summer Full of Fun in The North West

TACT’s Fostering North West team were very busy over the summer holidays organising some brilliant activities for our young people. One of our young people even completed an amazing personal challenge!

We kicked off the summer with our Multi-Sports Activity Day, delivered by Sportibees. Following the success of this event last year, and after hearing so many positive comments from our children and foster carers, we were delighted to bring it back again. The day was packed with a variety of sports and activities, giving everyone the opportunity to get involved, try something new and have fun together!

Another one of our summer activities came directly from our young people, who asked if they could meet up for an escape room challenge. It was wonderful to see friendships that have developed over the years continue to grow and strengthen. Not only did everyone enjoy spending time together, but we’re pleased to report that all of our young people successfully escaped. A huge well done to them all!

Throughout the holidays, children and young people also enjoyed a range of other outings, including bowling trips, cinema visits, arcade afternoons and days out at local parks. These activities provided opportunities for fun, relaxation and they enjoyed spending quality time together.

We were also fortunate to join colleagues from TACT West Midlands and TACT East Midlands for the Children Who Foster Residential. This was a first for our two young people attending, making it an especially memorable occasion. They had the opportunity to meet and connect with other children who foster, building friendships and support networks that we hope will continue to grow long into the future. The residential was packed with exciting activities, including high ropes, bag jumps, zip lining and much more, creating experiences and memories that will last for years to come.

To round off the summer, we headed to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Despite a few rainy spells, over sixty carers, young people and staff came together to enjoy a fantastic day of rides, laughter and fun. As well as being an opportunity for everyone to enjoy themselves, the day also provided a valuable chance for carers and children to meet new people, catch up with familiar faces and strengthen the sense of community that is so important across our service.

Alongside the group activities, we were also delighted to celebrate an individual achievement this summer. One of our young people took on the challenge of abseiling down Anfield Stadium. This was a remarkable accomplishment that required real bravery, and we are incredibly proud of them for embracing such an exciting opportunity.

We received some amazing feedback from our foster carers and young people:

  • “The boys always enjoy the activities and it was great to catch up with everyone!”TACT Foster Carer
  • “When can we do another activity?” TACT Young Person
  • “The older ones said they loved the big rides and were ‘made up’ to be big enough for the new ride! It was also perfect age-wise as there was something for all the kids so an all round perfect option for a day out”TACT Foster Carer
  • “Thank you for the trip, we enjoyed it!”TACT Young Person

A big thank you to our North West team for organising and facilitating these amazing activities for our young people!
