TACT Foster Carers Attend Buckingham Palace For MBE
Two of our foster carers, Barbara and Rob, have been awarded an MBE at Buckingham Palace for their service to fostering.
The couple, who have been TACT foster carers in our Yorkshire and North East region since 2011, have provided care for over twenty young people.
We spoke to them about their nomination and subsequent award: “Fifteen years ago we embarked on our journey into fostering . We chose TACT as they are a charity and we felt they offered the children in care the best support. With all the help and support from our beautiful family, friends and support from the TACT team we successfully cared for twenty five children and young people.
“In November 2024, we received a letter to inform us we had been nominated to receive an MBE for services to fostering. We were included on the New Year’s honours list and in July we attended Buckingham Palace to receive our MBE awards from Her Royal Highness Princess Anne. We can honestly say this is something we could never have believed could happen to two ordinary people doing a role we truly love.

“We feel we are so privileged that the children and young people we have cared for were able to put their trust and belief in us to be able to help them through a very difficult stage in their lives. To watch them settle into our family and home and allow us to offer them support through some tricky times has been the biggest reward of all. Making a positive difference for a child or young person is so rewarding and we could never have done this on our own.
“The MBE award belongs to those who have supported us to get it . Thank you to all who have been on this fostering journey with us because we couldn’t have got here without you.”
This incredible achievement shows their dedication and commitment to making a difference in the lives of our foster children, and we are so proud of the positive impact they have made!
