TACT Young People Attend Forest School!
Our South West Fostering Team arranged for our young people to attend school over the Easter Holidays – but this wasn’t their regular school!
During the Easter Holidays, our Bristol Forest School event was attended by a small group of our young people. Throughout the day, both the young people and their carers took part in a variety of engaging activities. They learned about leaf printing, and created moulded clay medals and necklaces – as well as flags using leaf prints. They also enjoyed toasting marshmallows and eating wood-fired pizzas.
The group also took part in a treasure hunt, searching for items such as pinecones and stick-made arrows, and finished the day by participating in a range of different games. Some of the young people who attended had never met before, but left having made new friends. It was a great opportunity for both foster carers and young people to connect, socialise, and build new relationships.
Rewinding further back to the February half term, we took our young people to Animals Interactive – and our fostering families had a fantastic day filled with learning and fun. Children and young people had the exciting opportunity to interact with, and even hold, a variety of animals from around the world – ranging from tortoises to skunks. With over 30 attendees, the session was full of curiosity and enthusiasm as everyone learned about the different animals, some even bravely facing their fears of spiders and snakes.
It was wonderful to see not only the young people getting involved, but also foster carers stepping out of their comfort zones and joining in. The day continued with a buffet lunch, followed by an afternoon of board games, creating a relaxed space for young people and foster carers to come together, build connections, and enjoy each other’s company. It truly was a great day, enjoyed by everyone who attended.
Thank you to everyone who was involved and for helping our foster carers and young people to make unforgettable memories and connections.
