TACT celebrate successful marathon run

Once again the London Marathon was a huge success with all our runners achieving incredible times and raising an unbelievable amount of money that can go towards providing children in care with brighter futures.

With Paula Radcliffe setting the tone early on, London was awash with excited supporters lining the streets, creating a great atmosphere that was ever present throughout the day. With the rain managing to hold off for the day, it meant good conditions for running for all those taking part.

Despite some of our runners suffering early injuries, they all dug in and managed to complete the marathon in excellent times, showing commendable determination. Lowri, a marathon runner for the second time unfortunately injured herself after mile 2 but still managed an incredible time of 4 hours and 25 minutes – especially considering the circumstances. When asked how it went after, she asserted.

“I am never running a marathon again!”

A year ago Lowri was 8 months pregnant and decided after watching the 2014 London Marathon that she would like to take up the challenge and run the 2015 London Marathon. Looking to see what charities she could run for, she was delighted to find that she could run for TACT, a charity very close to her heart. Incredibly she found out that she was successful with TACT two weeks after her daughter was born which was a huge shock. However after months of hard work training, running in rain, hail, snow, ice and wind she was ready to run just 16 weeks later.

Summing up her day she said:

“What an experience it has been, even though I was in pain I loved every minute! – Thank you TACT for allowing me to have this wonderful experience!”

Another member of Team TACT, Atholl ran the Marathon in an incredible time of 3 hours and 37 minutes. When asked why he chose to run with TACT he said:

“I ran simply because I am a foster carer for TACT and I know first-hand the difference a small amount can make to a young person’s life.”

And commenting on the whole he experience he proclaimed:

“The best moment was sprinting to the finish line having hit the wall 3 miles earlier! Fantastic crowd and fellow runners.”

It was a great day and we were really proud of everyone taking part and representing Team TACT. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our runners for all their fundraising efforts and everyone that has been so generous with their donations.
