Lorraine Pascale reflects on fostered upbringing
There was lots of positive interaction between Lorraine and the foster carers and young people present, with her fielding questions on a wide range of topics including her modelling career, being in care, leaving care and working in the USA. Three of the young people are studying catering at college and were keen to find out about Lorraine’s baking business and what is was like to work as a chef at the prestigious Wolseley – a glamorous café-restaurant located on Piccadilly, London.
As the afternoon wore on, it was fantastic to see some of the less confident young people starting to engage more with Lorraine and the other attendees, asking questions and sharing their own experiences.TACT care leaver and photography student Jemma Davis was on hand to capture everything that went on, and you can see examples of her photography in this news item.
The afternoon was rounded off with each of the attendees receiving signed copies of Lorraine’s cook books which were avidly read on the journey home by the catering students.
Everyone agreed that it was a very successful event, enjoyed by all, and the young people went away feeling inspired by Lorraine’s words of encouragement.
