TACT CEO featured in Times article on private children’s homes
TACT CEO Andy Elvin was featured in a Times investigation into the use of private children’s homes.
The investigation found that private firms that set up for-profit children’s homes during the pandemic, had “downright dangerous conditions” whilst charging lucrative fees.
TACT is a founding member of Fairer Fostering Partnership, a group of not-for-profit fostering agencies in the UK that believe excessive profit has no place in the care of vulnerable children.
Andy described the situation as “something that is extremely concerning” and raised concerns about the lack of physical inspections by Ofsted during the pandemic:
“It is very, very difficult to inspect in the middle of a pandemic, particularly in children’s homes. Unless you are physically there you are going to miss things.”
