John Lewis Donation Provides North West Wellbeing Event
Our TACT North West team took 13 of our foster care households out for a day of partying and fun – courtesy of a donation provided by John Lewis.
The day consisted of face painting, dancing, a raffle, a visit from Stitch (of Lilo & Stitch fame), a photo booth, buffet, TACT sweets and cupcakes – and some very special performances from two of our talented TACT young people!
Wellbeing events for our fostering families are so important as they provide a platform for our young people to make new friends or to catch up on existing friendships. They also provide a space for our foster carers to connect with other carers and our staff. Wellbeing and mental health for all is the overriding factor, and the memories and experiences generated at events such as these are priceless.
Feedback from the event was extremely positive:
“Thank you for allowing my grandchildren to be part of this special day – they have had the best time” – TACT Foster Carer
“We had a brilliant time. Our young person said they had a brilliant time and really enjoyed herself, it was so lovely to see her with a smile on her face! – TACT Foster Carer
“We had a lovely time being face to face with everyone, we have really missed that” – TACT Foster Carer
“This was the best party I have ever been to!” – TACT Young Person
“I loved getting my face painted and being a leopard for the day” – TACT Young Person
“I loved the cupcakes!” – TACT Young Person
TACT were awarded the donation via the John Lewis Community Matters Scheme, an initiative established to help local community groups and charities. Three organisations are selected every three months, and then customers decide how much each organisation receives by using tokens to vote.
We are so grateful to John Lewis for the donation, and a big thank you to our North West team for providing our fostering households with an event they will remember for many years to come!
