Celebrating Our Fostering Families in Scotland

TACT Scotland started 2025 in style with a celebration of their fostering households. On 18th January, we took our families to the Doubletree Hilton in North Queensferry. What started as a simple celebration turned into a heart-warming event where our foster carers shared their fostering stories. This is what makes these events so special. Not only do they create an environment to unwind and come together, but they offer a supportive space to share stories and experiences.

Some of our children produced some great artwork whilst at the event:

An artistic interpretation of the word LOVE, by one of our young people

Whilst wellbeing events are a national drive for TACT, Scotland received a welcome boost in 2024 when Colm joined us as a Children & Young People Wellbeing Practitioner. Let’s look back at some of the amazing events he organised last year for our fostering families.

Summer Picnic at Almondvale Country Park, Livingston

In August, our fostering households attended a picnic at Almondvale Country Park, where children could feed the llamas and take rides on a train.

Trip to Edinburgh Zoo

October saw us pay a visit to Edinburgh Zoo during the school holidays. The children particularly loved the penguins – and we managed to get some photographs!

Irn Bru Carnival

We were thrilled to take 28 of our young people, along with five foster carer volunteers, to the annual Irn Bru Carnival in Glasgow – which features Europe’s largest indoor funfair!

A big thank you to Colm, our staff, foster carers and our young people for turning these plans into a reality, and making them hugely successful and enjoyable!
