Could 2025 be your year to foster?

We know that fostering is a huge decision for you and your family, and it can be often be a while before you decide that now is the #TimeToFoster.

Your family circumstances, the type of fostering and the understanding of the role are all things to consider before you take the first step on your fostering journey.

There’s never a perfect time to become a foster carer, but there’s always a right time if your heart and circumstances align. If you have the capacity to offer stability and love to a child in need, fostering can be one of the most rewarding journeys you’ll ever embark on.

As we look ahead to the new year, could 2025 be your #TimeToFoster?

When Is the Right Time To Foster?

When is the right time to foster? We look at some of the misconceptions that may put people off or delay a fostering application.

Why We Are Different

When it comes to fostering with TACT, we go that extra mile to ensure that our foster carers and the children they provide care for are fully supported every step of the way. We offer an extensive learning and development programme to all of our foster carers as well as a generous fostering allowance.

We make sure that each and everyone of our foster carers feel empowered working alongside TACT. Together, we are making a difference and helping to improve the lives of vulnerable young people.

Our community of foster carers are proud to foster with TACT – that is why 98% of our foster carers have said they would recommend TACT to others.

24/7 Local Support

For total piece of mind, TACT provide their foster carers with 24/7 support. When you become a foster carer with us, you will be allocated your own Supervising Social Worker – who will provide most of the support that you will need.

We also have a dedicated out-of-hours service, ensuring that there will always be someone to help you, or to answer any questions you may have.

Specialist Support Services

We are always looking for new and innovative ways to provide support to our foster carers and young people. As such, we have developed a range of innovative services, including our own Education and Health Service – both of which are focused on achieving great outcomes for children and young people.

TACT’s specialist education service is there to support foster carers and advocate for children of all ages.

We ensure that all young people in TACT’s care are able to access their educational entitlement of a full time and appropriate education based on their age, ability and needs.

TACT’s Health Service provides staff and foster carers with the support they need to meet all of our young people’s health needs in the best way possible.

Our team of experts work closely with young people to support both their physical health and their mental wellbeing.

Connect is our exclusive members-only community for people aged 15-plus who have been cared for by TACT foster families.

As well as a community connection, Connect provides members with a place to turn to for information and guidance they may need on their journey.

Generous Fostering Allowance

We know that our foster carers are motivated by improving the lives of children and young people and not by money, but we believe it is important that they are suitably rewarded for their hard work and dedication, as such we pay all our foster carers a generous allowance.

In our ongoing commitment to support our foster carers financially, we have recently introduced a Council Tax Contribution Scheme and a Discretionary Fund that foster carers can access for local financial support.

You will also receive additional payments for children’s birthdaysholidays and religious festivals. In addition to your fostering allowance, we also pay long service awards and a Recommend a Friend fee.

A Community that cares

Each and every one of our fostering teams are built on a foundation of trust, care and support. We have created positive relationships with our foster carers and have developed opportunities to allow our foster carers to form strong bonds with one another. Our foster carers tell us that the connections that they have built in their local teams is an invaluable part of their fostering journey.

We have a run a range of initiatives across TACT to bring our foster carers together, this includes Support Groups, Foster Carer Buddies, Wellbeing Days Out, Coffee & Catch Ups just to name a few.
