“Lee was 13 year olds when I first met him and he was remanded into secure accommodation as he consistently failed the conditions of his bail and supervision order. When I first heard about Lee, it was clear that he was ‘the case’ that no-one wanted. Many people in the past had already tried to work with him, each time failing. I knew I could make a difference so I volunteered to work with him.
When Lee and I had our first meeting, he wanted to know why I was bothering to visit him. He told me that I wouldn’t last and he had ‘got rid’ of all the others who had tried. We laughed about that meeting 2 years later.
