We are still recruiting foster carers

While as a nation we face up to the challenges and changes brought about by Coronavirus, there is one thing that hasn’t changed, which is that children will unfortunately still be entering the care system – often due to abuse or neglect, and that means we still need more foster carers to provide them with safe and loving homes.   So here at TACT we have made sure that we have the systems and  technology in place to enable us to continue to receive and process enquiries and applications from people who would like to become foster carers.

Deciding to help vulnerable children who are in the care system through no fault of their own, is for all our foster carers one of the most important and rewarding things they have done in their lives.

You will need to be over 21 and have a spare room, and there are few barriers to becoming a foster carer. The most important criteria is your ability to listen and empathise, to provide a stable and loving home and to speak up for the children you care for. Your sexuality, marital status, age and whether you own a home do not determine your suitability as a foster carer, and therefore will not impact your fostering application.

With TACT, foster parents benefit from un-rivalled support, including 24/7 help and an extensive training program. We have more than 25 years’ experience of looking after children and young people, and we are proud of our child-focused approach and emphasis on helping them to achieve their potential.

And did we mention that we are also a charity? That means that we do not profit from the care of vulnerable children and any surplus is put back into our services.

Please think about the positive difference you could make to the life of a young person in 2020 and beyond.
