Inspiring Inclusion on International Women’s Day
This year’s International Women’s Day is all about inspiring inclusion, and is a celebration of the empowerment and global achievements of women.
At TACT, our commitment to gender equality and inclusion is sewn into the very fabric of who we are. Our ongoing weekly wellbeing workshops for our staff include sessions on subjects such as menopause support, with regular drop-in ‘cafes’ that staff can join. Other sessions include supporting female health with nutrition, support through miscarriage and menstrual cycle in the work place.
In addition to the menopause support we offer via our wellbeing programme, we are also seeking full accreditation as a Menopause Friendly Employer, which will enable us to offer free one-to-one menopause nurse appointments.
Having recognised that Imposter Syndrome affects more women than men, TACT have introduced new wellbeing events centred around coping strategies and open discussions about the psychological occurrence of the syndrome.
Aligned with our commitment to wellbeing and mental health, our flexible working practices ensure that all staff have the flexibility they need to maintain a work/life balance. As a predominantly female workforce, this flexibility can be used in a variety of ways such as to support with childcare or caring for a relative. We currently maintain a 100% approval rate for flexible working requests.
In terms of learning and development, TACT offer specific development courses aimed at women, including public speaking, enhanced leadership and coaching & mentoring.
“On this International Women’s Day, let us honour the countless women who have inspired change, challenged norms, and made a lasting impact. Together, we can create a world where every woman has the opportunity to thrive and fulfil her potential.”
Daniella Jackson, TACT’s Director of People, talks about her own professional development: “Throughout my journey in TACT, I have been supported to continuously develop professionally. I have worked hard to have a voice at the top table and have been fully supported by TACT to reach my full potential.
“I have had the privilege to witness first-hand the transformative power of women’s voices and actions, learn from their unwavering commitment to social causes, their ability to uplift others, and their capacity to overcome challenges with grace and determination, all of which have left an indelible mark on me. Women in TACT have undoubtedly shown me what true leadership and solidarity look like.”
TACT are proud to be supporting International Women’s Day 2024. As a fostering charity, we’d like to take this opportunity to acknowledge, celebrate and thank all of our female staff and foster carers – without whom we would not be able to provide the professional care, support and expertise required to help change the lives of children and young people all over the UK.
Let us all continue to encourage and #InspireInclusion.
